Applies to: the CubeX app for Android (package name com.gyntheticlabs.cubex) and the CubeX website at https://cubex.g-ynthetic-labs.com.
CubeX is published by G-ynthetic Labs ("we"). This policy says what the app does with information about you. It is written to match what the app does. Where it says we do not collect something, the app has no code that collects it.
The short version
Your game lives on your device. Your campaigns, your AI cores, what they have learned, your Gambit collection and your settings are stored on your phone.
Four things involve someone other than your device:
- Signing in with Google (section 3).
- The subscription, which is sold and billed by Google Play (section 4).
- Advertising for players on the Free plan, served by Google AdMob (section 2).
- Typefaces that the app downloads from Google Fonts (section 5).
1. What stays on your device
The app writes these to your device's storage, and they stay there:
- your progress in each campaign, and which core you picked on the Free plan;
- your AI cores and their learned memory: after a match, the core keeps some
of what it played and adjusts it by the result, so it adapts to your games;
- your Gambit collection and the loadouts you build in the Gym;
- your achievements, stats and the lore you have unlocked;
- the match setup, house rules and settings you chose.
None of this is sent to us. The AI runs entirely on your device. We cannot read your save, and you can delete it at any time (section 8).
Android backup. The app does not ask Android to back up your game, so your progress is not copied into your Google account's device backup.
2. Advertising (Free plan)
Players on the Free plan see ads. They are served by Google AdMob. Subscribers see no ads.
To serve those ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects the following and shares it with Google:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID | Identifies the device to the ad network. You can reset or delete it. |
| Approximate location from your IP address, device and system type | Chooses an ad that can be shown in your country and displays it correctly |
| Ad events (shown, tapped, completed) | Counts what was shown and detects fraudulent traffic |
We never receive any of it. It goes from your device to Google. We see only total earnings, nothing that identifies a person. AdMob never receives your account details or your game.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent form appears before any ad loads, through Google's User Messaging Platform. You choose there whether your data may be used for personalised ads. If you decline, you see non-personalised ads and lose nothing in the game. You can change your choice at any time from the app's Account window.
You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings, Privacy, Ads. Google's own handling of ad data is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3. Signing in with Google
You sign in to CubeX with your Google account. Google confirms who you are and gives the app:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your Google account ID | Ties your subscription to you, so it follows you to a new phone |
| Your name, email address and profile photo | Shown in your Account window, and used to find your account if you contact us |
This information is kept on your device. We do not use it for advertising, we do not build a profile of you from it, and we do not sell it.
4. The subscription
CubeX has two plans: Free, with ads, and a subscription at $9.95 a month (or the price Google Play shows in your currency). The subscription is sold and billed by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details.
When you subscribe, Google Play tells the app that the subscription is active and gives it a purchase record: an order number, a purchase token, the plan, and when it started and renews.
Google's handling of payment data is described in the Google Payments privacy notice at <https://payments.google.com/payments/apis-secure/u/0/get_legal_document?ldo=0&ldt=privacynotice>.
5. Typefaces from Google Fonts
The app's screens use typefaces (Chakra Petch, IBM Plex Sans, IBM Plex Mono and Orbitron) that it downloads from Google Fonts when they are needed. That request comes from your device, so Google receives your IP address and the names of the fonts. It carries no account details and nothing about your game. Google describes this at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq/privacy.
6. The CubeX website
The website at https://cubex.g-ynthetic-labs.com has no accounts, forms, comments or payments. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it loads nothing from other services.
It is hosted by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). When your browser asks for a page, GitHub receives the standard request details (your IP address, the time, the page asked for, and your browser and system type) to deliver the page and keep the service secure. We do not receive these details. GitHub describes its handling at https://docs.github.com/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement.
If you email us, we receive what you send and use it only to reply.
7. What we do not collect
- No analytics. The app has no analytics SDK. Nothing reports how you play,
what you tap, or how long you play.
- No location, contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera. The app holds
two Android permissions: INTERNET, and the advertising ID permission the ad SDK needs (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID).
- No profiling. We do not build a profile of you and make no automated
decisions about you.
- No data sold. We never sell personal information. Personalised ads can count
as sharing for advertising under some US state laws; section 10 says how to opt out.
- No use of your games for research. Your cores learn from your games on your
device only.
8. Deleting your data
Everything the app stores is on your device, so deletion is in your hands:
- Android Settings, Apps, CubeX, Storage, Clear data removes your save, your
cores' learned memory, your collection and your settings.
- Uninstalling the app does the same.
- Delete account, in the Support part of the app's Account window, signs you
out and removes your account details and save from the device.
Deleting your data does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in Google Play, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions first.
If you no longer have the app, email admingynth@gmail.com from the address on your Google account, and we will delete anything we hold within 30 days. Full instructions are at https://cubex.g-ynthetic-labs.com/data-deletion.html.
9. Why we are allowed to do this
Under the GDPR and similar laws, our legal bases are:
- Advertising: your consent, asked before any ad loads, which you can
withdraw at any time.
- Sign-in and the subscription: performance of a contract. You asked for
them, and they need this data to work.
- Purchase records: legal obligation, for the tax and accounting records
the law requires.
We do not process special categories of personal data.
10. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or give it to you in a portable form. Email admingynth@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may also be able to:
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: complain to your data protection authority.
- California and other US states: know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale
or sharing. We never sell. To opt out of sharing for advertising, use the privacy choices in the Account window, or reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings. Emailing us works too.
- Elsewhere: use the equivalent rights your local law gives you, the same way.
11. Children
CubeX is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, or under the higher age set by local law. The app is rated for players aged 13 and over and is not part of Google Play's Families programme. If you believe a child is using CubeX, email us.
12. Security
Sign-in is handled by Google, and payments by Google Play. Everything the app sends over the network is encrypted with TLS, and data on your device is protected by Android's app sandbox. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
13. Open-source software
CubeX includes open-source software made by others. It is listed, with its licences, at https://cubex.g-ynthetic-labs.com/licenses.html. None of it collects or sends data about you.
14. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects what is collected or why, we will update the date above and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
